#67: How to heal from trauma and living life with joy?

You probably have this quote memorized and imprinted to your heart by now:

“Vulnerability is not winning or losing; it's having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome. Vulnerability is not weakness; it's our greatest measure of courage.” - Brene Brown.

You’ve traveled far on your own life journey and after many sleepless nights while listening to Brene’s work, you’ve knew deep in your heart the value of vulnerability BUT only wish that you have the courage to tell your story to the world….just like Brene Brown.

Fast forward in life, you are at the starting point of what could be a new professional journey for you to stand up on a stand and be in the spotlight but only to learn that something this thing she called Vulnerability means you might have to peel off some more onion skins to get comfortable to be inspirational.

Vulnerability is a super power. But it is a super power only when you are courageous enough to speak about the past in hope that this will help someone else. But too often than not, the level of shame, guilt and the memories that used to wake you up at night remains in the shadow until you finally have a way of bring them into the light.

Meet my guest this week, Helen Brenner. Helen is a Healing trauma coach. Helen has a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling specializing in Trauma and Crisis Counseling. She has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, A License NLP in hypnosis. A Certified EMERGE practitioner, a certified trauma-informed coach, and a fellow iPEC coaching graduate with a Professional Certified Coach Accreditation from the International Coach Federation.

In her words, Helen is someone who was searching for answers for most of her life but more often than not, only found answers to questions she didn’t even know she needed to ask. She spent the greater part of her adult life in a state of survival after having experienced years of childhood sexual abuse and childhood bullying by both classmates and teachers.

She had no idea who she was or what she wanted or if she was even allowed to have what she wanted in the first place!

Today, she is an inspiring coach to the clients she works with, as well as for other women coaches who struggle to put themselves out there in the world in sharing their trauma surviving stories.

It was not easy for Helen to come this far in her life and start her coaching business.

In this episode, you will learn:

  1. Helen’s story as past trauma survivor

  2. The difference between counseling and coaching

  3. Helen’s unique skill with the EMERG technique

  4. A Demo of how Helen works with her clients
