About Michelle Kuei
I was a good coach with no clients. Same as you, probably.
I started exactly where you are. Full-time pharmacist. Newly certified coach. Zero idea how to get clients.
I did everything I was supposed to do. Networking events. Social media. Website tweaks. Emails. I perfected my elevator pitch — then changed it. And again. Nothing worked.
Then I published my memoir. Launching a book felt like a dream — until I had to sell it. Turns out a book on the shelf doesn't automatically mean clients at your door.
At that point, I had two choices. Make this work. Or go back to full-time and call it done. I chose to make it work.
I got certified in copywriting and email marketing. I invested in mentors. I tested everything on my own business first. And slowly — then all at once — it clicked. Clients started coming to me. Not because I was hustling harder. Because I finally had a system.
That system became the Client Enrollment Method™. Now I teach it to coaches who are exactly where I was.
WHERE THIS STARTED
I wrote and published a book in four months. I sold zero copies.
So I ordered 300 of them and gave them away free, hoping one person would hire me. Nobody did. Just heartbreak and a lot of boxes in my hallway.
Then I drove around town knocking on doors, asking anyone who would listen to let me speak, just so I could sell that book.
I kept thinking the problem was me. That I wasn't good enough yet, or ready enough, or that I needed one more certification before people would take me seriously.
It took me way too long to figure out what was actually wrong.
I was the best-kept secret in my own business.
So I went and learned the other half of the job.
Copywriting. Email marketing. Content strategy. Launch Strategy.
I hired mentors. I tested everything on my own business first, because I wasn't going to teach a coach something I hadn't already proven on myself.
It took about a year to build a business that brought clients to me instead of the other way around. Not because I hustled harder. Because I finally had a system.
That system became the Client Enrollment Method. And that is what I teach now.
One more thing you should know
I spent most of my life feeling invisible.
I've been living with a permanent physical disability since I was 11, after a car accident. I'm 4'4", and I walk on crutches.
The hardest part was never the crutches. It was the shame and unworthiness I carried alongside them, and the years I spent living small because of it.
The day I decided to stop feeling small was the day I decided to hike 26 miles of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. My trainer's jaw dropped. "Michelle, you know people die and fall off cliffs there, right?"
I booked the ticket anyway.
I trained for months. Two hours a day, seven days a week. I needed a plan, a guide, and someone who knew every slippery rock before I got to it.
I made it. All 26 miles. On my pink crutches. Up over 10,000 stairs.
And somewhere on that mountain I understood something I've never forgotten.
The dream didn't get me there. The preparation did. The right people did. The map did.
The numbers
- 26
- miles of ascending trail, on crutches
- 10,000+
- stairs, over four days
- 3
- the mile where I nearly turned back
What the mountain taught me
Choice
You decide what's possible before circumstances get a vote.
Commitment
Consistency beats inspiration every single time.
Courage
You don't wait until you're ready. You get ready by going.
Connection
The right people and the right guide change everything.
Confidence
It isn't something you find. It's something you build by doing.
How I work
Four things I believe about coaching businesses.
-
Your certification proves you can coach. It was never proof you can get clients.
Two different skills. Coaching school sold you one of them and let you assume the other came with it.
-
You don't need more information. You need fewer decisions.
Most coaches I meet aren't short on strategy. They're exhausted from making every call alone at 11pm. Which platform, which freebie, what to charge, whether that post was good enough.
-
Selling is offering.
You're not convincing anybody. She booked the call. She already decided. Your job is to help her trust the decision she already made.
-
I won't promise you revenue.
No coach honestly can. What I promise is that you'll know exactly who you help, you'll have one offer you can say out loud without apologizing for the price, and you'll have a system that doesn't depend on who you already know.
The credentials part
Since you're probably wondering.
ICF accredited
Trained through iPEC. I coach for real, not just about coaching.
Certified copywriter
Conversion copywriting and email marketing strategy. This is the part most business coaches don't have.
Top 15 Coach in LA
Recognized among the top coaches in Los Angeles.
Published author
A personal memoir. The one I sold zero copies of, before I learned any of this.
Make It Visible
Host of the podcast and the YouTube channel, where I do this in public every week.
Featured in
Fox, Parade, Authority Magazine, and Life Coach Magazine.
None of that is why you'd hire me. It's just here so you don't have to go looking.
Off the clock
Things that have nothing to do with your coaching business.
You're going to hear about these eventually, so we may as well get them out of the way.
Toby is a cat. Cooper is a maltipoo. Toby knocks things off the counter, Cooper watches him do it, and neither of them has ever hit a deadline.
Coffee. Not a personality trait. Infrastructure.
My crutches are pink. People are going to look anyway, so they may as well see something good.
Planners. More of them than one person needs. If there's a way to turn something into a repeatable, colour-coded process, I've already tried it.
Toastmasters, for years. It's where I found out that being heard is a skill you practise, not a personality you're born with.
I'm a hugger. I built this whole business online, so if we ever end up in the same room, you're getting one.
Toby and Cooper show up in most of my teaching examples. Usually as the client who won't do the homework.
What it's like to work with me
In their words, not mine.
Built the whole thing in three months
"There's no need to hesitate and try to figure things out on your own. With Michelle's assistance, you will have a strategy and be working towards your goal after one session."
Stacia Thompson Coach for women veterans8 clients within 48 hours
"I launched my course following your strategy. That same day, I had two people that signed up. By the end of the second day, I had a total of seven. Before I closed the cart, I had one more."
Eve Cortes HR Leadership CoachStrangers finding her website
"I changed my entire website and created a story in my website, and people have been coming through my website that even don't even know me."
Dayanna V. Embodiment CoachIf you got this far
You probably recognised some of yourself in here.
That's usually why people book a call. Not because they read my bio, but because they read the part about being good at the work and invisible anyway, and thought yes, that's me.
You're already on the trail. You just need someone who knows where the slippery rocks are.
Forty-five minutes. You'll know more about your business than you would after another month of figuring it out alone.
