#215: Should You Pay to Be on a Podcast? Here’s What Coaches Need to Know About Podcast Visibility

Not all visibility is created equal. Before saying yes to a podcast interview (especially if it’s paid), make sure it’s aligned with your business goals. Here’s how.

So… Should You Pay to Be a Podcast Guest?

Recently, I got this message from a coach in our community:

“Michelle, I’ve been invited to be on a podcast—but they’re asking for $199 to feature me. Is it worth it?”

Cue the face scrunch. 👀

A few days later, someone else asked:

“I’ve been offered a spot on a podcast—it’s unpaid, but I think it’s good practice. Should I do it for visibility?”

If either of these situations sounds familiar, you're not alone.

The rise of podcasting has created endless opportunities for exposure, but let’s be real—not all visibility is created equal. And not every mic is meant for you.

In this episode, I’m breaking down the difference between exposure and intentional visibility, and the 5 key questions I always ask before saying yes to any podcast invitation—paid or unpaid.
