Why Life Coaching?

Exactly what is life coaching?

Life coaching is a profession that is profoundly different from consulting, mentoring, therapy, advice or counseling. Life coaching is designed alliance between coach and client where the process addresses specific personal projects, business success, general conditions and transitions in personal life, relationships or profession by examining what is going on right now, discovering what your obstacles or challenges might be and choosing a course of action to make your life be what you want it to be.

Everyday we make choices to do or not do certain things. These choices may range from profound to trivial. Each one has an effect that makes our lives more fulfilling or less fulfilling, more balanced or less balanced, that our process of living more effective or less effective. Life coaching helps you learn how to make those choices that creates an effective, balanced and fulfilling life.

You as the client are the only expert in your entire life who truly knows who you are and what you need. You are the only expert who can recognize what is absolutely best for you. A life coach simply helps you discover what your own personal best might be.

Why you SHOULD NOT hire a life coach?

Some of us are perfectly content with the way life is. Having a 9 to 5 job, going home to a family. You may feel burned out or stressed out sometimes, but you have this mentality of “It is what it is.” or “Doesn’t matter what I do, someone will always find something wrong about me.” You may feel unsatisfied and envy those who have more, but on the most part you felt “this is good enough.”

As life coaches, we are not here to force you to change. Instead we are here to celebrate the life you have and cheer you on to an even better life! But the choice is entirely up to you.

Life coaches are not here to tell you what to do. We see you as creative, resourceful and whole on your own. We use skillful questions to empower you, gain new perspectives and challenge your goals so you can live your best life. Occasionally we might offer you some valuable tools or resources so you can add them to your tool box, but you are the expert of your life and we are not here to tell you what to do.

“Life is all about feeling comfortable.” We want our day-to-day lives to stay the same because they feel good and safe. The only change we are willing to accept is improvements to what we already have.

If change means that life is going to be hard for a while or even painful, we want nothing to do with it.

As life coaches, we encourage change. We are not doing this to cause pain or problems; we believe that change is where the transformations happen. Take a risk, step outside of your box because that is where possibilities lie.

We pay for gas to keep our cars moving. We pay for beauty treatments (hair, skin, nails) to help us feel good on the outside. We spend money for entertainment for our minds to enjoy. We pay more for healthy food, supplements, and gym memberships to keep our bodies in shape. Every year we even spend more to keep up with our New Year resolutions to live a more healthier and happier life. Why is it that you won’t pay for a life coach?

Sure, you can go to family and friends for advice. Would you ask your friend to fix the plumbing in your home? Would you ask your wife/husband to teach you to speak French? Unless of course, they are experts in these area.

Why does it seem normal to depend on our friends and family or community members to help us achieve our unique, authentic life goals? Why do we believe that we aren’t worthy of our goals?

I go to family and friends for advice, sure. I am not going to lie. But I also experienced values at a much higher level from a coach who is trained to see my strengths and ask me the right questions to transform the way I see life and show up in the world.

They have pulled me out of holes I didn’t think had an exit and affirmed parts of me that I used to hide in shame. For this, I will never hesitate to pay a coach because I see the value in myself and in the coaching process.

Coaches have the ability to view things from a distance. They shed new lights on difficult situation; they help sharpen skills and motivations.

Life coaching increases productivity through accountability, expertise, delivery and speed. Think about it, if you work out with a personal trainer at a gym, you would work much harder than on your own. You end up taking bigger actions, set bigger goals and think bigger when you work with a life coach. A trained life coach knows how to help you set the right goals, make more money and structure your personal and professional life so you can achieve greater productivity with less effort. You will also achieve more in less time with the input of an accredited life coach on your side.

A well-trained coach knows how to use the right words so you are naturally motivated. Coaching process usually works better with weekly calls so you have time to integrate new ways of thinking and take action towards your goals. Most life coaching is done by phone within 30 minutes to an hour of coaching calls. Most people notice that things start to happen very quickly after hiring a life coach.

Executive business leaders, actors, musicians, creative people, entrepreneurs, managers, small business owners, start ups, professionals and home-makers all reach their goals with the help of a life coach.

If there is a gap between where you are now and where you want to be, there is room for life coaching. If you have been circling around the same problem and stumbled over and over, there is room for life coaching. If you are not sure what your life has to offer, there is room for life coaching. If you feel alone and no one seems to understand or share you dreams, there is room for life coaching.

Life coaching is for everyone and anyone. People choose to hire life coaches because they want to do even more tomorrow than they can do today. They want to see more growth; they want to do those things quickly with the best of their ability. They want to drop that extra ten pounds of weight they said they would in the beginning of the year. They want to move on with their lives from broken relationships, empty nest or simply live a happier life.

Take a moment and examine your own life right now.
